March Minutes

March 2018 Monthly Meeting Minutes
The meeting was held in the “Man Cave” at Don and Betty Garriety’s  home,  on March 18, 2018.
We enjoyed a great lunch of barbecue sandwiches with all the delicious pitch in fixings.
Joe Hochderffer called the meeting to order at 3:20pm and thanked the gracious host for providing a great meeting place.  Joe recognized new members and welcomed back some of the old familiar faces.
Business discussed:

  • April meeting to be held at Mike Williams home 4/14/18 at 12:00 to 4:00.
  • Our club needs meeting hosts for May, June and November.
  • Joe presented a flyer on TCLOCS and safety awareness, reminding members of seeing and being seen.
  • Rally events were mentioned and can be found listed on the website.
  • Greg Sickmeier talked about IRMA and the generous contributions that went toward the 33rd Historical marker featuring Floyd “Pop” Dreyer.  The dedication is April 21, 2018 at 3:00pm at Dreyer Honda.  Thank you Greg for keeping us informed about the Memorial planned for Mr. Dreyer.
  • Wayne and Peggy Garrison have reserved the weekend of 5/11-13/18 at Paynetown for camping.  Please let them know if you plan on reserving a space for the weekend.
  • Wayne talked about the BMW Nationals held in Des Moines, Iowa on 7/12-14/18.  Please contact Wayne if you plan on attending and need tent space.  Please volunteer if you plan to attend the Nationals.
  • RA Rally is 7/19/18 .  Kathy Zak asked the members if anyone who is attending the RA, would they be interested in camping together.  Please contact Kathy if you are interested.

Joe asked for members to reconsider hosting the empty meeting months of May, June or November and provided a tid-bit about “Pop”.  Joe thanked our hosts for their generosity and adjourned the meeting at 3:48.
36 club members were in attendance.
Respectfully submitted,

2018 Euro rally information

March 2018

Dear Rally Goers,

The BMW Motorcycle Club of Nashville’s 20th annual European Riders Rally is already looking great! The weekend of May 17-20 will be here before we know it, and we’ve been working to make sure this Rally remains an all time favorite.

First head to the log cabin and pick up your registration packets.  Don’t forget, the first 180 registered receive a free Rally Towel along with all the other goodies.  Here you’ll have the opportunity to participate in the 50/50 drawing and purchase goodies like caps, tumblers, even last year’s t-shirts.

The AG building will be a buzz of activity.  Information booths including SkyMed, Dunlop Tires and the Burkesville Trailhead Project will be set up giving you the opportunity to learn all about their services.  Seminars, yoga, movies and popcorn, door prizes, even Bingo are all scheduled to take place in temperature-controlled comfort.

The Pavilion is Rally Central through the whole weekend. The drink station will be set up with complementary coffee, tea, lemonade and hot chocolate daily.   Donuts and fruit will be available in the mornings on a first come first served basis. We’ll also meet here with the group ride leaders for information and instructions before setting out on guided rides (more information coming soon). It’s the place to be for lunches Friday and Saturday and the best Rally dinner Saturday evening, including your choice of grilled chicken or steak, tossed salad, and baked potato (and did somebody say cobbler?).  After dinner we’ll have awards and grand prize drawings, then the band Route 40 will perform.  Our host town of Burkesville will offer a breakfast courtesy of the area churches Sunday morning.

Set up your tent on the flat, spacious camping areas all around the city parkland, or park your RV in one of the plentiful spaces with electrical hookups.  There are also bathrooms and showers, and we’ll place plenty of port-a-potties around for everyone’s comfort and convenience. All you non-campers should be making hotel or cabin arrangements.  You’ll find links on our website to assist you.

We’ve added a Daily Schedule link on the website to help you all make plans for your time at the Rally.  Visit www.bmwmcon.org to learn more and register.  Don’t forget to register before April 29 to lock in special pricing and to guarantee a t-shirt with your Full Rally Pass.

Looking forward to seeing you at European Riders Rally, because “We Love to Ride.”
