About Jim Pugh

My name is Jim Pugh and I live in Fishers, IN. I started riding in 1960 on a Cushman Eagle and have continued ever since on a variety of bikes. I started racing motocross in 1962 and switched to road racing in 1964. I was the world’s slowest road racer, but I had a lot of fun times riding all the great tracks, including the GP at Mosport, Canada. My longest ride was from Chicago to Panama in 1965 on a Triumph Bonneville with two other crazy guys. I’ve ridden Copper Canyon in Mexico and Patagonia. I have also done several long tours but I’m not an Iron Butt contestant. Most of my riding now is around the Midwest area, with a few longer trips like Barber, Daytona and some other tracks to watch road races or other motorcycle events like Sturgis, Americade and Laconia. My current touring ride is a R1200-RT, and I also have a BMW F700GS for dual sport.

Beautiful Balkans MOA Tour

I feel compelled to report on my recent MOA tour of the Balkans with Adriatic Moto Tours. This was a wonderful tour by a truly professional operator. We had 5 couples and 5 solo riders and visited Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia an Montenegro. The roads were great and we visited several interesting sites, including five national parks and a few war memorials. The tour was lead by Matej Malovrh, one of the owners, and he was a fantastic guide because of his knowledge of history and geo-politics. The hotels were all really nice and the meals were superb. The pace was relaxed covering 1600 miles over two weeks with 3 rest days. I would recommend this tour to anyone who wants a European adventure in a place without the traffic of Germany and Italy.
