Harold is trying to get a head count for brats. Please take a moment to RSVP. Looks like a great night for a Bon fire as well. Hope to see you at the club meeting if you’re not at the Paynetown campout.

I took delivery of my R1200GSA a few weeks before my now annual teaching Visual Storytelling at Philmont Scout Ranch near Cimarron, New Mexico. I had about 1,500 miles on the bike when Mike Williams wanted to trade tires. I traded so I set out for Philmont on new tires. By that time I realized I was riding the best of my bikes, including the R80RT, R1100RT, K1200LT and R1200GS. Both actual features and intangibles were superior. For those who know me well, a highly desirable feature was the 7.9-gallon gas tank.
I usually stay in Emporia, Kansas on the way. Why? It’s out of Missouri and I like the way the name rolls off the tongue.
Beautiful Balkans MOA Tour
I feel compelled to report on my recent MOA tour of the Balkans with Adriatic Moto Tours. This was a wonderful tour by a truly professional operator. We had 5 couples and 5 solo riders and visited Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia an Montenegro. The roads were great and we visited several interesting sites, including five national parks and a few war memorials. The tour was lead by Matej Malovrh, one of the owners, and he was a fantastic guide because of his knowledge of history and geo-politics. The hotels were all really nice and the meals were superb. The pace was relaxed covering 1600 miles over two weeks with 3 rest days. I would recommend this tour to anyone who wants a European adventure in a place without the traffic of Germany and Italy. Contact me if you want more information.
