How do I join the BMW Motorcycle Club of Indianapolis?

You have to be a member of the club by filling out the registration form for this website. Select the “Join” item in the menu to start the process.  When the website registration form is submitted, you will be emailed a password sent to the email address you supplied. Your login will be the full email that you supplied on the registration form.

What if I don’t like my password?

When you register, the website automatically generates a very safe password. You may change your password by logging in with the generated one and then editing your profile. When you login you will be in the Dashboard. On the left margin, you will find an icon for “Profile.” Scroll down until you see the two fields for password. Enter your desired password in both fields and click the button “Update Profile” at the bottom of the page.

How do I make a Post on the club’s website?

This is really pretty easy. If you can write an email and send it, you can make a Post. Select   Posts/Add New from the left margin. Enter a headline or title where the cursor is and the grey text says “Enter title here.” That’s not too complicated is it?

Next select a Category(s) for your Post. The list of Categories is found along the right-hand margin. You may select more than one Category for your Post. Now click the cursor in the writing area and begin to write. When you are finished, click the blue “Publish” button at the upper right. Note that once you have selected the “Publish” button once, it is now labeled “Update.” If you make further edits, click “Update” to save the changes.

Why don’t all my phone numbers appear automatically when I use a signup form?

You didn’t supply all the numbers when you originally filled out the initial registration form. You can always enter the number you want form by form or you can edit the registration form. Login to the website and go to Join/Create or Update Registration (menu). The registration form will auto-populate with what you originally entered. Just edit and hit the “Update” button.

Why won’t my personal password work to see the directory?

Particular pages may be password protected, as is the directory page. When the page is created a password is assigned by the creator of the page. Obviously, that type of password must be generic and not specific to any one user. Thus, your password for logging into the website will not allow you to view the directory page. But how do you know what the directory password is? When you originally registered for the website, you received an email with the directory password. If you deleted that email, contact webmeister or ask a member who knows what it is.

How do I get automatic email notices of new Posts to the website?

login to the website. Your login is your full email address

Go to your account Dashboard. There will be a pull-down menu in a dark strip at the very top of the webpage. Put your cursor on the name of the website and a pull-down menu will appear. Select Dashboard.

Near the bottom at the left-hand margin you will see a menu “Subscribe2/Your Subscriptions.”
Make sure the box “Select All” under categories is selected. All the category boxes will then be checked.

Click on the picture to view it in a larger size.

As new items are posted you will receive an email.

It is easy to create filters for your email app to automatically move these to a folder you create if you wish. Or–simply delete them if you are not interested the post.

How do I make a post to the website from my cell phone with a picture?

This is easy. Simply address the email, including one with a picture, to this special email address:

post@bmwmcindy.org

In ten minutes or less, the email will be converted to a post. The is instructed to check this mailbox on a ten minute cycle.

You MUST use the same email address as sender that you used to register for the site. Otherwise your post will be rejected. It is the sender’s email address that lets the site know you are legitimate.
