Experience the vision of James W. Brown as his photographs explore light and people as our next First Friday exhibit on November 1 from 6 – 9 p.m. These photographs explore both light and emotion and bridge nearly 40 years of Brown’s experience as an academic and professional.
“I have always tried to make story-telling pictures of my activities and interests. I have been in operating rooms in Nicaragua and Guatemala with Operation Walk, been within arm’s reach of bison at Philmont Scout Ranch in New Mexico, and marveled at the beauty of nature during wilderness canoe trips,” Brown said.
Brown was head of the photojournalism sequence of the University of Minnesota School of Journalism and Mass Communication. He was president of Brown, Jensen and Garloff, a Minneapolis-based media production company. He is professor and executive associate dean emeritus of the Indiana University School of Journalism at IUPUI. He has a gold and bronze medal in the New York Film Festival and is co-editor of an award-winning book, “Long Journey Home: Oral Histories of Contemporary Delaware Indians,” which also includes 90 of his photographs of Delaware culture. Brown is a member of the Indiana Journalism Hall of Fame.
M10 Studio James Brown Exhibition is at 1125 Brookside Ave. in the Circle City Industrial Complex on the near-Eastside. We’ll be open from noon-4 p.m. and hope you can join us for Brown’s photographs. We hope you’ll also check out the vibrant and growing CCIC art community.
There is a large parking lot across the street from the studio.
