Dennis Shelley and I pushed on south to Maggie Valley, N.C. after the European Rider’s Rally. We had intended to pitch tents in a motorcycle only camp ground. After riding in the rain much of the day, we decided to take a motel with the intention of moving on to the campground the next day.
As we went to dinner we passed a modest 10 unit motel adjacent to the motel we were staying in. The Cardinal Inn is managed by Debi and Mike Dubil. Their day prices are reasonable but if you pay for two days you get a third day free. This really interested Dennis–some say copper wire was invented by Dennis stretching a penny. The end unit was a large room with table and kitchen. The room was so big that it held all of Dennis’s stuff and about a third of mine.
Dennis did a quick cost analysis and found that for only about $7.50 more per day than the tent rate at the campsite, we could have the kitchen suite. We really liked the place and highly recommend it as a base for riding the roads in that area. If Dennis and I are riding with you, we get unit 10.
