So, here I am changing my oil and filter on my R1100RT, that I have done bookoo times, right? Old filter comes off, great! New filter, not so good! After 30 minutes of struggling to get that stupid thing screwed on, I finally compared the two filters, Hmmm, the new filter has a rubber gasket, the old one does not! Crap. So, after scraping the old one off from the oil filter area with my fingernails, in the next 30 seconds, I was done. Go figure……Just a heads up, gang!

Editor’s note: This is a good maintenance tip of the kind that I hope members will post on this website so they can be archived and searched for by other members.
