Club Photo Tag Game 2018

Subject: Club Photo Tag Game 2018

(This message send thru club website)

This is an official announcement of the return of the club Photo Tag game. We will officially run April 1 to Oct 31.   However; for the months of April and May, let’s ignore the 2 week reset rule (Rule #6 below).

We’ll run the same way as past few years. The rules are posted with a link below. As few rules as possible, but with a few guidelines to go with them. As in the past, it’s always been for fun and a good time had by all. Hopefully some fun for you. Remember, it is run as unmanaged as possible; if you post a tag, it’s yours, you own it and have to manage it until someone else takes it. Good luck, and remember; it’s a game, have fun.

For the first tag, we’ll start with one I did as the last Winder Tag.  I’ll re-send it the 30th or 31st, it’ll also on the web page I’ll list below.   Also note that we send the Photo Tag emails on the Yahoo list.  It’s better to let Yahoo deal with the file management and storage.

Photo Tag Rules:

2018 Photo Tag contest
(April 1 to Oct 31)
Coordinated by Andy Clark

Description:

A riding game of tag using photos of your bike in a mystery location with an interesting sight to see, good place to ride, or good food to eat. The purpose is to have fun, discover new places and promote friendship and fellowship within the Club.

The Process:

Assume the Photo Tag is already started by ‘Fred’ posting a photo of his bike at a covered bridge. ‘Jimmy’ then rides to “tag” the current location of the same covered bridge. Jimmy rides his bike to the covered bridge and takes a photo with his bike positioned so it and the bridge are visible in as similar manner to Fred’s photo. He submits the photo to the club email list thus “claiming” that tag. Jimmy now rides to another location of his choosing, say outside his favorite restaurant. He positions his bike and takes a photo. He then submits it to the Club yahoo list with a tasty nugget of information to provide a clue but does not tell the actual location. The next day Susie says, “I know where that’s at!” and heads off to the restaurant. She grabs a photo with her bike positioned similarly to Jimmy’s and submits it to the list being the first to claim that tag. Now Susie sets off in search of another interesting feature, landmark or location to set the new Tag by submitting a photo of her bike at that spot within about a day. And so on.

Rules:

1. It’s a game, have fun!
2. A legit Tag is a newly taken photo of your bike at a location within the
confines of the state of Indiana submitted to the group’s email list.
3. The first person to “Tag” the current location moves it to a new location.
4. To make the new “Tag” take a photo of your bike in a new location and submit it to the list.
It will now be the new Tag. (If more than 24 hours go by without posting a Tag photo
at a new location, it will revert to the prior Tag and will be someone else’s to grab.)
5. Another person must grab the Tag and move it to a new location. You can’t move your own Tag.
6. If a location turns out to be so disdainful that no one tags it after two weeks, then the Tag
will revert to its prior location and be eligible for someone else to grab.

Guidelines:

Keep in mind the following when you make a new tag:

.  Landmark, historical marker, good restaurant, interesting road-side attraction, good
       motorcycle road.
.  It should be safely accessible to the general public (without paying admission).
.  On or near a paved road not miles down a gravel road (see Dual Sport below for more info)
.  Don’t tag where it would be dangerous to get off the bike.
.  It may be somewhat a mystery, but be sure to provide a hint of some kind so people can figure
       it out.
.  Remember your bike and the landmark must both be visible in the photo.
.  Photo should be at least 800 x 600 pixels but also not huge like 4000 x 3000.
.  A ‘tie’ where two people tag the same spot, we will use the first to be posted on the yahoo
       list as the winner.
(smart phones with cameras have made this possible, make sure you can post with it)
.  No repeats! If it’s been tagged before during the current running year, it’s out of play. Look
       for something new.
.  If you accidentally tag something old, and someone new lets you know, admit your public
humiliation and post a new tag.
.  Make sure “Photo Tag” is in the subject of your email. (so you can filter them out if needed)
.  Any disputes can be settled by group therapy, questions go to the tag master, with the
ultimate adjudicator being our Club President.
.  This is an unmanaged game for the most part, and for fun. Help out if people are having
       trouble with your tag.
*If a week goes by and no one has found the tag, the original poster should post up a new
hint as to the location if it’s not obvious.
.  If your tag is interesting or unusual, you might want to post some extra info about it AFTER
       it has been found.

Dual Sport

There has only been discussion of adding gravel and dirt roads to the Photo Tag rules. We would
like to share photos of such places. We would like to have some place to post your photos and share
this type of riding with the club, but it cannot be used in this game. Send such pics to the me at
the address below and I’ll start a web page of the photos to share them.

For this game: Hard surfaces only.

Off road or ‘dual sport’ photos to Andy at bmwpics@abcindy.net with a subject line saying “Off Road Pics”

Location Choice:

We will start fresh every year. Any tag locations used in previous years are again fair game, but no
repeats allowed during the year.

Game Management

This is going to be as unmanaged as possible. I will however try to keep up with the tags and the photos.
I’ll do my best to keep up a list but I don’t want to be in the middle and ‘manage’ each individual tag.
It’ll be up to the person that posted the tag to keep track of that tag as far as timing and making sure
the person that finds it is correctly.

Texas Visit

Dee and Mic Reeves visited club members John and Lucinda Cook and Rick Nelson in the hill country of Texas for a week of great riding this January.  Most of the rides involved something like this water crossing, or waiting for cows to move out of the road.

Any other intrepid Indy Club riders are welcome to come visit.
